About Our Chapter
Founded in 1973, PFLAG is the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. Family acceptance is key, and PFLAG saves lives.
Our local Salisbury Rowan PFLAG group was formed by Mike Clawson in
2006 and started our Scholarship Foundation in 2008. As of 2023, we
have given over $103,000 to 103 deserving Rowan County High school
seniors, public, private and home schooled who identify as LGBTQ or as
an ally.
Mission
Our mission is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ people and allies who support one another, and to educate ourselves and our communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value, and affirm LGBTQ people.
Vision
PFLAG envisions a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
Our chapter holds support meetings at First United Church of Christ in Salisbury, NC at 6 PM on the fourth Thursday of every month. All are welcome to join us!
